THE YOUNGER SIBLING WITH PLENTY TO PROVE
Merge the creative ambition of youth with two decades of experience and you have our over-achieving younger sibling, PanicProgram. Working with international brands and agencies on remits spanning the beautifully compact to the wildly innovative, PanicProgram doesn’t walk in anyone’s shadow.
Directed by PostPanic’s own Erwin van den IJssel, in collaboration with photographer Klaus Thymann, the film highlights the catastrophic effects of climate change to the glaciers of the Tarfala Valley in Sweden.
Using aerial photography dating back to 1946 a 3D map of the glacier’s withdrawal is not only poignantly depicted but also provides an invaluable tool for volumetric measurements which can be used for further analysis. This visually stunning piece holds a sombre undertone, reminding us that our current relationship to the environment is simply unsustainable. Eventually many more glaciers will cease to exist.
The film was created as part of Project Pressure and was premiered at the Unseen Photo Fair 2018 in Amsterdam. It will now move on to the Science Centre Singapore and next year can be screened at the Natural History Museum of Vienna.
